Dr. Bhupati Neupane

Ph.D. degree from the Chinese academy of Sciences, Beijing, China

Dr. Bhupati Neupane was born in Gorkha, Nepal, in 1984.He received the MSC degree in geology from theTribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2009. In 2011-2013, hejoined the Department of geology, Tribhuvan University,Kathmandu, Nepal, as a asst. Lecturer.

He got a Ph.D. degree from the Chinese academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, in 2013 and 2017 and postdoctoral research in 2017 to 2021 as a same university, with the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, CAS, Beijing, Chain. He is a Life Member of the Nepal Geological Society (NGS).

He had attended many international conferences, work shop on nano-geosciences, Himalayan tectonics, sedimentary basin evolutions, and energy resource geology held in different countries. He has published more than 30 scientific articles books in different national, international journals.

He was the recipient of the Cas President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) for postdoctoral research 2019-2021, CAS-TWAS president fellowship award for Ph.D. program “2013- 2017”, “Excellent international students 2016” and “Excellent international graduates 2017” of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The National Award “A” provided by president of Nepal for 2017.

Dr. NEUPANE has a good knowledge in geoscience is associated with energy resources (Micro-nano oil and gas), tectonics, climate change and minerology.

He is quite familiar to using different tools; GIS based data analysis, Geological Mapping, Mining, Drill Core logging, Geotechnical Mapping and works, Slope stability analysis and Natural Hazard Mapping and analysis, Microscopic Petrography, Micro and nano structure of coal and shale analysis, and tectonic zone mapping.

Research Area

Micro-nano oil and gas

One of the research areas belong to the micro-nano oil and gas is one of the important directions of future energy. Using micro-nano technology, we can strengthen the study of the generation, migration, diffusion and accumulation of oil and gas in micro-nano scale pores system, set up micro-nano scale pore models, and make innovation in research orientation and the way of thinking. The unconventional oil and gas research will help to United States’ increase energy type, pro- long the life cycle of oil and gas industry, upgrade the oil industry technology and safeguard national energy safety.


Tectonics is based on the embracing experimental, observational, and theoretical perspectives, that focuses on the interactions among various components of Earth and planetary systems as they evolve over many spatial and temporal dimensions. Many of the products of these interactions—from earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and landslides to water, mineral and energy resources—have important human consequences. Thus, in addition to contributing to a deeper understanding of planetary dynamics, tectonics research routinely addresses issues essential to human societies.


Mineralogy focuses on the structure, composition, occurrence and utilization of minerals and forms the foundation to geological research this is also importance for the economic prospective. Many governmental and non-governmental bodies of US searching for metals and minerals that are essential for the sustainable development of the society, and their geological occurrence and exploitation have been chosen as one of the key topics in the nation.

Another aspect of my work is focused on climate change in different geological time span that could be beneficial for future sustainable development.
