Geohazards and Disasters

This program aims to improve our understanding of the earth’s natural processes that create or cause natural phenomena hazardous and disastrous to human society. It also generates knowledge and provides information about the vulnerability to, and impacts of, natural hazards such as earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, glacier lake outbursts, and avalanches to the economy, infrastructure, and society. This group also works in water/coastal engineering and management and geotechnical engineering. The research outcomes of this program help to influence policies and change practices supporting resilient society and infrastructures.
